Product description

Another silver coin from the series inspired by the Lord of the Rings film trilogy presents the elf Legolas.

Elves
are a mystery to most inhabitants of Middle-earth. Members of the oldest race dwell in closed societies far from the settlements of men and dwarves - often in deep forests, where they live in harmony with nature and magic, but there are also masters of the blacksmith's craft or unrivalled seafarers. At first glance, they appear arrogant and domineering, and it is true that there is a reason for this - they are perfect in every way. They are tall and graceful, with long hair and pointed ears. They do not age, and they are immortal unless they die violently. Centuries of experience have made them wise and prudent. Their senses are honed, especially their sight and hearing, and their agile bodies are designed to move quickly and silently. When hunting and fighting, they prefer bows, and few arrows they shoot miss their mark... Legolas, son of the mighty King Thranduil, may be the prototype of the noble elf, but despite his noble origins, he values his friends above all. Though they are of a different race, he has no hesitation in sacrificing his life for them and for all Middle-earth...

The reverse side of the coin is dominated by
a coloured depiction of Legolas sitting on his faithful stallion Arod. The surrounding relief features the horsemen of Rohan and Gondor preparing for battle. The obverse side then presents a portrait and name of the monarch Elizabeth II, the year of issue 2021 and the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) - the attributes of the coin's issuer, which is the island of Niue. The coin was minted by the team at the New Zealand Mint with official film licence.

An integral part of the issue is an elegant
wooden case with a special mechanism used to display the coin.
