Czech Lion 2020
Coins minted from silver impress not only numismatics and collectors, but also investors. Therefore, the world central banks with major mints are preparing purely investment mintages. The Czech Republic has not issued investment coins yet, so the Czech mint issued its own bullion coin entitled the “Czech Lion” based on a foreign license.
Czech statehood is represented by many historical symbols and artifacts. Although more than 100 years have passed since we ceased to be a monarchy, the main symbols include a set of Czech Crown Jewels, dominated by the sumptuously decorated St. Wenceslas Crown. The majestic symbol of the sovereignty of the state was introduced by Father of the Homeland Charles IV to the occasion of his coronation by the Czech king. The name of the crown and its appearance referred to the Přemyslid traditions, therefore, it was inherently connected with the idea of the Czech state. It was not the king's personal property, but it belonged to the entire nation and represented the unity of all the Czech lands. Unlike many other European crowns, it has not been lost thanks to these noble ideas.
The Czech Mint reworked all variants of investment coins in 2020, but maintained the idea. Besides the Czech lion in an untraditionally realistic design, the reverse side of the silver coin presents the St. Wenceslas crown, which rests on the head of the two-tailed beast, and the eagle on the shield, which is a synthesis of St. Wenceslas, Moravian and Silesian predators. The medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS became the author of the relief. The obverse side bears the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own coins. These attributes include the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2020 and the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (NZD). All this is supplemented by linden branches.
The total schedule of issuance counts 550 pieces - 500 of which are available separately in a protective capsule and another 50 pieces are part of a comprehensive set of silver coins. The Czech Mint offers a luxurious wooden box where you can store this coin.
