Czech Lion 2022
In 2022, almost 5 years have passed since the first "Czech Lion" was issued. On the occasion of this anniversary, an extraordinary edition of bullion coins with a modified relief featuring the numeral 5 was created.
World bullion coins are usually dedicated to strong national symbols and the "Czech Lion", which is the first mintage of its kind intended for the Czech market, is no exception. Three precious metals - silver, platinum and palladium - were used in the production of the unique set of three one-ounce coins of the Czech Mint, which boast top-quality proof.
When using the word ounce, it is necessary to further specify this term - there are many variations of this unit, some of which refer to weight and others to volume. In the context of international trade in precious metals, the universally accepted unit of weight is the troy ounce (abbreviated as 'oz'). It derives its name not from the mythical city of Troy but from the French city of Troyes [trua]. The city on the Seine has always been a centre of trade, and gold and silver in units equivalent to the troy ounce were exchanged there in the Middle Ages. It did not take long for this standardised weight to spread around the world - for example, English merchants were already operating in Troyes in the 9th century AD... One troy ounce weighs exactly 31.1034768 grams. Its multiples or fractions are also commonly found, and it is used to calculate and express the price of metals - usually in US dollars per troy ounce. Every investor wants to know how much their coin weighs in order to calculate its value, but Czech Lions also have artistic and collectible value - especially since this is only the second time that platinum and palladium Czech Lion coins have been offered by the Czech Mint!
The reverse sides of the coins are dominated by a Czech lion in an unusually realistic presentation with the St. Wenceslas Crown on its head. The obverse sides present the eagle, which is a synthesis of the St. Wenceslas, Moravian and Silesian bird of prey. The author of the relief is the medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS. Since the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the licence of a foreign issuer, which is the island of Niue, their obverse sides bear its necessary attributes - the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue 2022 and the nominal values of 2, 50 and 50 DOLLARS (NZD).
Invest in a smart, stylish manner and without VAT! In our offer you can also find other variants of the investment coin "Czech Lion" made of gold and silver. This allows you to easily regulate how much money you invest in precious metals.
The Czech Mint has extensive experience in the production of investment coins (so called bullion coins). We have been minting gold and silver "Czech Lion" coins since 2017 and they are popular among investors not only in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, but also in Hungary, Germany, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Canada and the United States. The largest online precious metals distributor in the world has also requested them for its offer. One of the reasons why the Czech Mint's investment coins have so quickly joined their famous global counterparts (such as the Austrian Wiener Philharmoniker, Canadian Maple Leaf, South African Krugerrand, American Eagle, Chinese Panda or Australian Kangaroo) is their low mintage. While bullion coins of foreign mints are minted in the millions, the issue limit of coins minted in the Czech Republic is calculated in hundreds or thousands. This fact increases the appreciation potential of the investment and adds a collector's dimension to it.Thanks to the artistic processing, the coins will also serve perfectly as an original and valuable gift - for graduation, for a wedding, for the birth of a child or just for fun...
