Product description
The set of Slovak euro coins was created in 2021 to the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Štefan Boleslav Roman.
Štefan Boleslav Roman was born in 1921 in Veľký Ruskov in eastern Slovakia. His family was large and poor, so he decided to seek his fortune in Canada. He enlisted in the army, worked in a car factory, but was attracted by something else. He started trading stocks, through his skill he acquired a stake in a mining company and managed to buy a large tract of land that turned out to be the largest uranium deposit in the world. The "Uranium king" became a leading figure in the global mining industry. He also mined coal, oil, gas, polish and potash from the depths of the earth. He also focused on cattle ranching and baking. By the mid-1960s, his empire was worth an estimated $70 billion. He was friends with presidents, aristocrats, artists and athletes, but he never forgot his homeland. He was concerned that the Slovaks were a small nation surrounded by great powers and wished to unite all his compatriots scattered across the planet. Therefore, he founded the World Congress of Slovaks and was its first president from 1971 until his death in 1988...
