Set of circulation coins Czech Republic 2025 proof in wooden etue
Product description
The Czech Mint, in cooperation with the Czech National Bank, has prepared a traditional luxury set of circulation coins minted in top proof quality – this time with the year 2025.
The classic circulation coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK, which you encounter every day, are minted in “standard“ quality. Their entire surface is matt and resistant to damage, which guarantees a long life for the coins. However, Czech metal coins are not just a means of exchange – many people appreciate their artistic design and therefore include them in their numismatic collections. For these cases, a collector's version of the coins is produced in ‘proof’ quality, which is characterised by a mirror-like shiny surface and a matt relief. This attractive contrasting effect is achieved by a special treatment of the surface of the tools used for minting. At the beginning of the ‘proofing’ process, the entire surface of the die is polished using special tools and diamond paste. The die is then covered with a special adhesive tape. The proof engraver carefully cuts away the tape from the parts of the relief that are to be matt. They work under a microscope and apply this procedure even to the finest details. Sand of various grades is then applied to the masked die to matt the exposed parts of the relief. Finally, the remaining tape is removed, leaving the selected parts of the relief polished. The ‘proof’ version of the circulation coins is given special care during the minting process itself. This is not automatic machine minting – each coin is minted individually and packaged in a protective capsule.
In addition to the six circulation coins with the year 2025 stamped on them, the set also includes a silver commemorative medal, the relief of which was inspired by the highly prized 1978 Charles V five-ducat coin with a motif of Charles University. The faithful reconstruction of the historical work by academic sculptor Zdeněk Kolářský was carried out by medal maker Mária Filová, DiS.
The set is supplemented with a numbered certificate of authenticity produced by the State Printing Office and stored in an elegant wooden case.
