Set of circulation coins Czech Republic 2025 proof
Product description
Czechs encounter circulation coins in nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK almost every day. They pass through countless hands, and their most important properties are therefore durability and resistance. However, our coins are not only a means of exchange, but also small art works, which is why the Czech Mint, in cooperation with the Czech National Bank, also mints them in a delicate proof quality, characterised by a mirror-like shine that will delight every collector.
All coins have their own designers. Have you ever wondered who is behind Czech currency? It is a group of four leading academic sculptors:
The coins with nominal values of 1 and 2 CZK were designed by Jarmila Truhlíková-Spěváková (* 14 November 1940) – her design for the crown coin impressed the National bank so much that she was commissioned to design the 2-crown coin without a competition being held.
The 5-crown coin is the work of legendary artist Jiří Harcuba (6 December 1928 – 26 July 2013), who based his design on his earlier coins, which were used by Czechoslovakians during the socialist era and the federation.
The 10 and 50-crown coins were designed by Ladislav Kozák (31 August 1934 – 22 July 2007), who received a prestigious award for the most beautiful coin in the world for his bimetallic circulation coin with the highest nominal value in the Czech Republic.
The 20-crown coin is the work of Vladimír Oppl (born 19 January 1953), who is also the designer of the Order of T. G. Masaryk, the most beautiful gold coin in the world, the largest gold coin in Europe, and you may also remember his 50 haller coin.
The complete set of Czech coins for 2025 is supplemented with a commemorative medal made of pure silver, whose relief was inspired by the highly prized Charles IV ducat from 1978 featuring Charles IV. The faithful reconstruction of the historical work by medal maker Petr Formánek was carried out by medal maker Mária Filová, DiS.
The six coins, together with the medal, are stored in paper wrapping, which includes a certificate of authenticity printed by the State Printing Office.
