Product description
The Czech Mint in cooperation with the Czech National Bank has prepared a traditional luxurious set of circulation coins minted in top quality proof. The set will be released in 2023, which marks the 30th anniversary of the Czech Mint and the Czech currency.
The classic circulating coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK, which you use every day, are minted in quality “standard“. Their entire surface is matt and resistant to damage, which provides the currency with long service capability. However, Czech metallic currency is not only a means of exchange - many people appreciate their artistic processing and therefore add them to their numismatic collections. Therefore, a collector's variant of the coins is created in quality “proof“, which is characterised by a mirror-shiny surface and matt relief. This attractive contrasting effect is achieved by special surface treatment of the minting tools. At the beginning of the “proofing“ process, the entire surface of the stamp is polished using special tools and diamond paste. The stamp is then covered with a special adhesive tape. On the parts of the relief that are to remain matt, the proof maker carefully cuts and removes the tape. They work with a microscope and apply this procedure even to the finest details. Sand of varying coarseness is then applied to the masked stamp to matt the exposed parts of the relief. Finally, the remaining tape is removed, which keeps selected parts of the relief polished. “The proof version“ of the circulation coins is also given special care during the minting process. It is not an automatic machine minting - each coin is minted individually and wrapped in a protective capsule.
In addition to the six circulation coins with the year 2023, the set also includes a silver commemorative medal with the motif of the Prague Jesuit. The medal designer Eva Prousková, DiS., dedicated the obverse side to the legendary statue dressed in an elaborate dress. The blessing baby is surrounded by Prague towers and the Czech-Latin inscription PRAŽSKÉ JEZULÁTKO – JESULUS PRAGENSIS. The reverse side of the medal bears the two royal attributes of the Prague Jesuit - a crown and an apple. The composition of the reverse side is completed by shells and pearls - motifs taken from the crown, which was a gift for the Baby Jesus from Pope Benedict XVI.
The set is supplemented with a numbered certificate of authenticity, produced by the State Printing Office of Valuables, and stored in an elegant wooden case.
