The Czech Mint, in cooperation with the Czech National Bank issue a series of sets of circulation coins that gradually present our regions. The Ústí nad Labem Region is presented in 2021.

The territory of the Ústí nad Labem Region, which is located in the northwest of the Czech Republic, is connected with the oldest Czech history - the arrival of Forefather Čech on the Říp Mountain, where is situated the Romanesque rotunda of St. George, and the establishment of the Přemyslid dynasty founded by the legendary Přemysl the Ploughman. While the Bohemian Switzerland National Park, which is dominated by the largest sandstone rock gate in Europe, presents extraordinary natural beauties, the mining landscape of the Ore Mountains is rich in cultural monuments and has been inscribed on the UNESCO list.

Jan Štekl, a student of the medal school in Jablonec nad Nisou, became the author of the commemorative token, which is an integral part of the set. "The obverse side of the token presents the composition of three bridges over the river Elbe, which are located directly in the regional city of Ústí nad Labem. In the upper part there is the Marian Bridge, in the middle there is the Dr. Edvard Beneš Bridge and a railway bridge at the bottom. I chose those bridges because I consider them to be the dominant aesthetic element of the Ústí nad Labem Region, " the young medal maker explains. The reverse side of the token is then dominated by Church of the Assumption of Our Lady. The Church was moved by 841 meters on rails in 1975 to prevent it from coal mining. "I wanted to mention the historic city of Most, which was razed to the ground. I am fascinated by the idea of a church nave as a space ship sailing through a devastated lunar landscape. By choosing this motif, I also wanted to draw attention to the negative impact of mining and chemical interventions in the Ústí nad Labem landscape. Fortunately, the region today considers its natural and historical wealth to be more important than the mineral and it is proceeding to considerable revitalization, " the author adds. Of course, the set of circulation coins can not lack currency - specifically six metal coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK, which were minted in 2021 and never went to circulation.
