Product description

A set of Slovak circulation coins was created to commemorate the 2022 Winter Olympic Games hosted by Beijing in China.

Due to a coronavirus pandemic
, the twenty-fourth Winter Olympic Games were held just six months after the end of the thirty-second Summer Olympic Games. Beijing hosted the spectacular sporting event, making the Chinese capital the very first metropolis in history to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics... The Slovaks, represented by 50 athletes in 7 sports, did well in China. The ice hockey team won bronze for Slovakia and alpine skier Petra Vlhová, who dominated the women's slalom, won gold. In both disciplines, it was the first ever Olympic medal in Slovakia's independent history.

The complete set includes all valid
euro circulation coins issued by the National Bank of Slovakia and minted by the Slovak Mint of Mincovňa Kremnica in 2022. The nominal values are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 c and €1 and €2, which are accompanied by a thematic commemorative token. The obverse side of the token, which is embellished with colouring, is dedicated to the sights of Beijing - the Temple of Heaven and the decorated roofs of the Forbidden City. The reverse side is dedicated to the Olympic sports venues - Beijing National Stadium also known as the Bird's Nest and the National Jumping Centre. The Olympic symbols and the skier complete the composition.

The set is placed in
a blister pack with a cover.
