Product description
A sports set of Slovak circulation coins with the year 2020 commemorates the Olympics that did not take place.
The thirty-second Summer Olympic Games were to be held from 24 July to 9 August 2020 in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. However, athletes and sports fans had to skip them in the interests of public health as the world was hit by a coronavirus pandemic earlier this year. World-class events have already affected Olympic events many times. In 1908, the Games had to be moved from Rome to London because of the devastating explosion of Vesuvius. In 1916, 1940 and 1944 they were cancelled due to the ongoing world wars. During the Cold War, boycotts by rival superpowers affected them in 1980 and 1984. But in 2020 it is the first time in the 124 years of the modern Olympics that they have been postponed by a year!
In the set you will find all valid circulation euro coins issued by the National Bank of Slovakia in 2020 and minted by the Slovak Mint Mincovňa Kremnica. The nominal values are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 c and 1€ and 2€, which are supplemented with a thematic commemorative token.
The set is stored in a special blister with a cover.
