Product description

The Czech Mint presents its first ever collectible series of commemorative coins minted in platinum. Their uniqueness is not only in the material used, but also in the selected topics - on 12 mintages  they will gradually introduce all the famous Czech landmarks written on  UNESCO World Heritage List. The first coin is adorned with the historic center of Český Krumlov.

The picturesque town of Český Krumlov is situated at the very south of the Czech Republic and its ancient area represents a unique collection of historic architecture, that evolved over centuries in the bends of the river Vltava. At first glance, it is dominated by the seat of aristocratic family of the Rosenbergs in the form of an extensive castle and chateau complex and St. Vitus Cathedral, which is a prime piece of  the Czech Gothic. This unique architecture did not escape the attention of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (better known as UNESCO) and so in 1992 was placed onto the list of protected world cultural and natural heritage sites.

The artistic form of these platinum coins has created the talented artist Lenka Nebeská, DiS., from whose workshop have emerged, among others, also the gold and silver coins dedicated to our national traditions protected by UNESCO. The reverse side of the coin is dominated by the view of the historical buildings of Český Krumlov, through which flows the Vltava River, along with a stylized image of the Rosenberg bear and rose. The composition is completed with an inscription HISTORICKÉ CENTRUM ČESKÉHO KRUMLOVA /Český Krumlov historical center/ and a decorative ornament. The obverse side of the coin is common throughout the series and contains the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides a license for issuing the commemorative coins for the Czech Mint - the effigy of Queen Elisabeth II., the year of issue 2017 and the nominal value of 50 DOLLARS (NZD). Among these attributes is then incorporated a collage of architectural elements of various Czech buildings listed on the UNESCO list.

In the menu of the Czech Mint you will also find a collectible etui, which holds all 12 platinum coins.
