Product description

The collectors-investment cycle of platinum coins of the Czech Mint with motif of UNESCO World Heritage Site represents its fourth addition. Its motif is the Kroměříž chateau with its gardens.

The Kromeriz Market Village became the property of Olomouc bishops and later archbishops who built a summer residence during church colonization in the early 12th century. The Gothic castle was rebuilt over the centuries into a Baroque chateau, which was continuously connected to the charming gardens - the larger romantic Podzámecká Garden and the smaller Baroque Flower Garden, which is an authentic preserved object of the seventeenth-century geometric garden art. The valuable interiors of the chateau are an unusual complex of representative and residential spaces, a unique picture gallery where the original of Italian renaissance painter Tiziano, the library and the music archive are located. The Olomouc bishops enjoyed special privileges, including the right to embosse the coins in the 17th and 18th centuries in Kroměříž, and the chateau therefore has a large collection of church mintages. It counts over ten thousand coins and medals, and only the numismatic collection in the Vatican exceeds its range, composition and artistic value.

Platinum coin was traditionally made by talented medal maker Lenka Nebeská, DiS. The reverse side is dominated by the perspective of the Archbishop's castle. At the top there is a segment of the Flower Garden Arcade and the Chinese Pavilion at the bottom right, which is the pride of the Podzámecka Garden. The commemorative coins of the Czech Mint are based on the license of a foreign issuer, which is the island of Niue. Their obverse side therefore bears its necessary attributes, which are the name and the portrait of the Emperor Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 50 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of the issue 2018. It includes collage made up of architectural elements of selected Czech buildings listed on the World Heritage List.

Each coin has a special certificate of authenticity. For the collectors, the Czech Mint has prepared a collector's etui that will take a complete cycle of twelve platinum mintages.
