Another legend of British popular music featured on commemorative coins from The Royal Mint's collector's series is Paul McCartney himself.

The madness that The Beatles unleashed in concert halls in the UK and around the world in the 1960s is indescribable. The four that changed music history forever included John Lennon, Ringo Star, George Harrison and Paul McCartney, who was the heart of the band and the idol of millions of women. When the Beetles broke up in 1970, fans couldn't believe it. But Paul McCartney remained in the limelight - as a member of Wings and throughout his solo career. He was known for his melodic approach to bass playing and tenor vocals with a range exceeding four octaves. As a lyricist and composer, he has been inspired by a variety of styles, from classical to rock and pop to electronic music. It is not only thanks to the immortal ballads Yesterday and Hey Jude that the Liverpool native has deservedly become the most successful songwriter of all time...

Paul's signature dominates the reverse side of the Osborne Ross coin. It is complemented by his trusty instruments - a Höfner bass guitar and a psychedelic 'Magic Piano'. The obverse side of the coin then belongs to the attributes of the issuer - i.e. the nominal value of 5 POUNDS (GBP), the portrait of King Charles III, the text CHARLES III D G REX F D (Charles III, by the grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith) and the year of issue 2024.
