Product description
The Royal Mint's silver coin collector's series is dedicated to the greatest figures in British pop music. Another music legend is Paul McCartney.
He plays bass guitar, guitar, keyboards and drums, yet is self-taught. His versatile tenor vocal range exceeds four octaves. As a singer-songwriter, he has no hesitation in drawing inspiration from a variety of styles - from classical to rock and pop to electronic music. In the 1960s, he infatuated millions of women around the world and rose to prominence as the heart of a band that needs no introduction. But Paul McCartney remained a star even after The Beatles broke up in 1970 - both as a member of Wings and throughout his solo career. He comes across as an insecure workaholic with a constant need to prove himself, but his triumphs are hard to top. He is, in fact, the most successful songwriter ever. His famous melancholy ballad Yesterday, for example, has the most cover versions in history, with over 3,000.
Paul's signature dominates the reverse side of the coin, which was produced by Osborne Ross. It is supplemented with his trusty instruments - Höfner bass guitar and "Magic Piano". The vivid colours of the famous psychedelic piano were achieved with the help of colouring. The obverse side of the coin then belongs to the attributes of the issuer - i.e. the nominal value of 2 POUNDS (GBP), the portrait of King Charles III, the text CHARLES III D G REX F D (Charles III, by the grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith) and the year of issue 2024.
The coin is housed in an elegant box supplemented with a thematic booklet (in English).
