Czech ducats have a bright future

27/02/2026

Czech ducats – when this phrase is uttered, the eyes of numismatists, collectors and investors light up. They think not only of the gold coins minted in the old days by Czech kings and Czechoslovak finance ministers, but also of a modern brand that proudly continues their tradition.

The aptly named company České dukáty – or Czech Ducats – was founded in 2016 and set itself a considerable goal: To restore the glory and authenticity of Czech ducat art. Because a ducat is not just a word – it is an unchanging standard and commitment that we have inherited from our ancestors.

Ten years have passed since then, and the brand has entered the new decade with renewed energy. It has become part of the Czech Mint, a strong company with which it has been closely associated from the very beginning. “It is at the Czech Mint, where all Czech coins are minted, that most of the ducats issued by České dukáty have been produced to date,” explains Michal Voborník, Director of the Czech Mint, adding that the merger will bring long-term stability, technological infrastructure, and room for further development to the brand.

"State-of-the-art equipment, experts who know their craft, enthusiasts who want to move forward with each new minting, but also supporters and friends – that's what the Czech Mint means to me," says Vladimír Olmr, founder of České dukáty, who will continue to be personally involved in the preparation of faithful ducat mintings. Thanks to their powerful themes, superior artistic design, exceptional quality, and low mintage, they will become the pride and joy of every collection.

This year, you can look forward to the first special projects that will respectfully continue the history of České dukáty. To make sure you don't miss anything, be sure to follow the websites www.mint.cz and www.ceskedukaty.cz, where you will find more information in due course…
