Coins for the UAE from the Czech Mint
Coins for the United Arab Emirates are minted at the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou:
- The Czech Mint had the honour of welcoming a distinguished guest from Dubai.
- Ahmed Sultan bin Sulayem, Executive President and CEO of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), struck a new series of investment coins for the UAE.
- The coins will be available in Dubai after Ramadan.
On Monday, 20 March 2023, the Czech Mint in Jablonec nad Nisou welcomed Ahmed Sultan bin Sulayem, Executive President and CEO of the Dubai Multi Commodity Centre DMCC, who toured the local production facility where not only Czech currency is minted, but also a range of collectible and investment coins made of precious metals.
During his visit, Ahmed Sultan bin Sulayem clearly confirmed the long-standing partnership between one of the world's largest free trade zones and the Czech Mint, which opened a branch in Dubai in 2022. The ever-developing Middle East region, which knows and appreciates Czech glassmaking, will soon be convinced of the qualities of the Czech coinage as well.
The highlight of the Czech-Dubai cooperation and the whole visit is the gold and silver investment coins, samples of which Ahmed bin Sulayem personally minted.
The relief of the coins, which comply with the globally recognised standards of the so-called "bullion coins", mirrors the achievements of the United Arab Emirates over the past fifty years. The portrait of President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is accompanied by a depiction of the breathtaking Louvre Abu Dhabi museum, which gives the Emirates the hallmark of a world-class cultural destination. The second coin depicts Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and the newest Museum of the Future.
The brand new gold and silver coins will be available for purchase in the UAE after the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The DMCC aims to promote and facilitate the gold trade globally. The memorandum of mutual cooperation was therefore signed by Ahmed Sultan bin Sulayem and Michal Drtina, Director of the Czech Mint, with a unique pen in which the gold coin is symbolically embedded.
