Product description

The Mickey Mouse Carnival is growing. After the animated mouse, his faithful canine friend Pluto appears on the silver coin.

The universe created by
Walt Disney is inhabited by countless animated heroes both large and small. The six main stars are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto. These are anthropomorphic animals - that is, with the exception of the last one. Pluto the dog has no human characteristics. Unlike his friends, he does not walk upright, does not wear clothes and does not speak. He is simply an ordinary dog - playful and adventurous - and his grotesques therefore rely on physical humour without words. In 1930, Pluto appeared in the short film "Chain Gang", where he starred as a nameless hitchhiker in pursuit of an escaped prisoner named Mickey. In the following cartoon, Minnie became his mistress and was named Rover. But the filmmakers found the dog's common name ordinary, so they renamed him - after a new planet that had just been discovered in 1930. Pluto quickly rose from small-role actor to Hollywood star - his slapstick film " Lend a Paw" won the Academy Awards, popularly known as the Oscars for best animated short film in 1941.

The reverse side of the coin is dominated by
Pluto the dog sitting manfully on a round circus stage - all in vivid colours achieved through colouring technology. Pluto's name appears at the bottom of the coin on a stylized ticket. The obverse side bears the portrait and name of Elizabeth II, the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2019 - or the attributes of the coin's issuer, the Pacific island of Niue. The design of the officially licensed mintage is the work of the New Zealand Mint's art collective.

The coin is stored in a
wooden box with an illustrated cover and a refined mechanism that allows you to display it.
