Product description

The grandeur, majesty and power of the state and its representatives - all this is hidden under the word majesty. Majesty is usually expressed by a number of symbols in the form of titles, ranks, charters or badges, and Czech history can offer a plethora of them. The fifth Majestic Ducat of the Czech Mint presents some of them.

The Czech lands have been a proud kingdom for centuries, and although more than 100 years have passed since we won our republic, we remember our distant history with respect. The most important reminder of the old days are the Czech crown jewels - a set of the royal apple, the royal scepter and the St. Wenceslas Crown, made by Charles IV himself to the occasion of his coronation as King of Bohemia. The elaborately decorated jewel was made of gold and precious stones, but its most valuable part was the thorn from Christ's crown of thorns, which ensured that the Czech king was symbolically crowned with the same crown as the son of God. The name of the Crown of St. Wenceslas referred to the Přemyslid tradition and thus to the very idea of the Czech state. Surprisingly, the crown was not the personal property of the king. Thanks to Saint Wenceslas, the heavenly patron, it belonged to the whole nation and embodied the unity of all the lands of the Bohemian Crown. Thanks to these noble ideas, unlike many other European crowns, it was not lost in the history…

The three crown jewels can be found on the obverse side of the gold ducat from the workshop of the medal maker Ludmila Kracíková, DiS. The crown, apple and scepter are supplemented with a hop branch. The reverse side is dominated by heraldic animals - the Czech lion, the Moravian eagle and the Silesian eagle - together with the inscription CZECH REPUBLIC.

The majestic ducat is an attractive and valuable gift for important occasions. Its integral part is a unique certificate of authenticity - it bears an embossed text supplemented with a decorative relief and covered with a layer of pure gold.
