Iron Maiden 2025 UK brilliant

The Royal Mint's collectible series of commemorative coins is dedicated to the greatest phenomena of the British music scene. Another musical legend is the heavy metal band Iron Maiden.

British metal gods Iron Maiden never played by the rules – they simply made their own. Their music is dark, epic and uncompromising, inspired by history and fantasy. Their concerts are monstrous, with fire effects, skeletons, warplanes and an iconic mascot named Eddie. The band, which rose from London pubs and the dreams of bassist Steve Harris, has been playing since the late 1970s. Their hard metal sound, which has never been softened by popular trends, serves as their battering ram. Perhaps no other band has managed to maintain its own style while surviving the apparent death of the genre in the 1990s. Without eccentricities or scandals, but with maximum professionalism and energy that has not faded even after more than four decades on the scene, Iron Maiden remains a symbol of the indomitable spirit of heavy metal...

The reverse side of the commemorative coin is based on a painting made by the band's painter, Alberto "Akirant" Quirantes. Its central motif is Eddie, who has appeared on all Iron Maiden albums. The obverse side of the coin features the attributes of the issuer – i.e. the nominal value of 5 POUNDS (GBP), a portrait of King Charles III, the text "CHARLES III D G REX F D" (Charles III, by the grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith) and the year of issue 2025.
