Slovakia is divided into regions, but in the past - in the years of Hungarian rule from 1884 to 1918 there were the territorial-administrative units, the so-called county. Szepes County is commemorated by a gold commemorative medal.

The author of the mini-mintage minted by the Slovak Mint Mincovňa Kremnica is the medal maker Mgr. art. Roman Lugár. The relief presents the coat of arms of the county and its dominant feature - the Cathedral of St. Martin.
