Czech and Czechoslovak Hockey Legends
Jiří Šlégr became the next "golden boy", who appears on the gold coin of the Czech Mint from the collector´s series "The Legends of Czechoslovak Hockey".
"If I had a worse life, I would remember Nagano. When I was still playing, I looked at the record to recall those beautiful moments. We rewrote the hockey history, it was probably the biggest tournament of all time. It was like a revolution when I saw the people in our country. A hockey player plays for the people when he grows up. And I suddenly pleased not the Litvínov fan, but the whole nation. There is no more," Jiří Šlégr remembers. The gold medal from the Olympics 1998 was just one of his hockey achievements. He won the Stanley Cup with Detroit Red Wings in 2002 and the World Cup in 2005. The back and holder of three prestigious trophies was nicknamed "Rubber" and became a member of the elite club called Triple Gold Club, known as Three-crown. This association has only 28 members and two of them are Czechs - Jiří Šlegl and Jaromír Jágr - his teammate from Nagano.
The reverse side of the commemorative coin which was made by the medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS., presents a period portrait of the back with his name, his jersey number 71, together with an inscription NAGANO 1998 - WORLD MASTER 2005 - THE WINNER OF STANLEY CUP. The reverse side bears the necessary attributes of the foreign issuer since the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the license of the State of Samoa. The attributes are the national emblem, the name and the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2019 and the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (WST).
Do not miss the stylish collector´s etui in the form of a puck that will hold the whole series of coins dedicated to the stars of our ice hockey.
