Product description

"She was an excellent friend, a great player, and an amazing, modest girl. That's how I will remember her," remembers the initiator of the gold commemorative coin cycle of Czech tennis legends Jan Kodesh the recently deceased Wimbledon winner Jana Novotna.

Jana Novotná excelled in an aggressive attack game on a network that could be envied by today's players. She won her second place in the 1997 World Ranking. In the same year, the tennis player also won the final championship in New York in both categories. Although we do not have a year-round grassy yard, Jan Novotna reigned on the green surface and Wimbledon was perfect for her. She won three times in the finals of the oldest tennis tournament, and she dominated in 1998. She was also an excellent deblist. In 1990, along with player Helena Sukova, they won a series of 44 games in a row that was only the third in history. In 1994 she won the Hopman Cup with Petr Korda, a mixed coaching tournament in Perth, Australia. At the Olympics she won two silver medals in doubles (1988, 96) and a bronze medal in singles (1996). It was also the backing of the winning team that won the Fed Cup in 1988.

An expert portraitist MgA. Martin Dašek became the author of the sports coin. The reverse side carries a lucky winner holding the Wimbledon trophy. It is surrounded by the English inscription "CZECH TENNIS LEGEND JANA NOVOTNA" supplemented by the dates of its launch into the tennis hall of fame and victory in Wimbledon, WTA and Fed Cup. The coins of the Czech Mint are issued in the foreign license of the State of Samoa and their obverse side therefore carries its necessary attributes, which are the national emblem, the name and profile of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (WST) and the year of the issue 2018. The composition of the obverse side is completed by the inscription "WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONS".

Each of the 200 gold coins has a special certificate of authenticity describing Jana Novotná's winning sports track in Czech and English. Do not miss the wooden collector´s etui, where you can store your collection of Czech tennis legends.
