The Tree of Life as a symbol of perfection, integrity and harmony appears in various modifications in various world mythologies and religions. It is a form of the World Tree described in northern mythology. According to the Old Testament, the Tree of Life stands in the middle of Eden as well as the Tree of Knowledge. In myths, the fruit of the Tree of Life symbolizes spiritual virtues - wisdom, love, truth, spiritual beauty etc. Those who taste the fruit of the Tree of Life or drink its sap, become immortal. The motif is also used in fairy tales where it for example appears as a tree with golden apples. The Biblical myth about the Tree of Life that was replanted in heaven after the incidence of sin, is very strong.
