Stories of Our History
The Czech Mint published the final medal from the cycle "Stories of Our History" to the occasion of Mr. Spejbl's round birthday. One troy ounce of pure gold reflects 100 years full of laughter and intelligent and crazy fun.
The wooden family, which brings joy to generations of small and large viewers, has five members. The confused but caring father Spejbl was born in 1920. His naughty son Hurvínek was born six years later and the faithful dog Žeryk and the curious schoolgirl Mánička, who became Hurvínek's best friend joined the puppet ensemble in the same year. The success that followed forced the puppet actor Josef Skupa to stop teaching and he founded the Spejbl and Hurvínek Theater in 1930. And what about Mr. Spejbl's female counterpart? Where is the mother of the wooden family? In the S + H Theater, it is said that Spejbl used to be a womaniser and a a woman of bad reputation gave him a child and disappeared. However, Josef Skupa did not want to caricature the role of the mother, therefore, he did not even create it. Hurvínek's only mother thus remains a linden tree, and Mánička's grandmother - the old-fashioned Mrs. Kateřina - has been dreaming about Mr. Spejbl in vain since 1971.
You will find the complete five puppets on the reverse side of the medal that was processed by the medal maker MgA. Martin Dašek. The obverse side was then dedicated by the medal maker to the personality of Josef Skupa - he added a portrait of the puppeteer with his name, life years and the original puppet of Mr. Spejbl.
Each of the only 100 pieces of medals is hand-numbered on the edge and supplemented with a special certificate of origin.
