Product description
The Czech Mint Series, which represents the most beautiful and interesting look-out towers of the Czech Republic, welcomes its last additions. The twelfth commemorative medal, minted from one ounce of pure gold, is dedicated to the Wallachian Wartovna.
The mountain Vartovna, where the look-out tower stands, has a special atmosphere. They talk about her hidden treasure, and in the past, as her name suggests, she served as a watchtower. The so-called portas, units of Wallachian guardians, set fire on the top to warn of the approaching danger - it could be either bandits or fires, but the greatest threat to the historical Moravia was the invasions of wild Turks, Tartars and Hungarian rebels from the 16th century. Burning fires at a height of 651 meters above sea level were evident from a great distance, and it is no wonder that a modern look-out tower was built in 2009.
The author of the artwork of the gold mintage is medalist Mgr. A. Jan Hásek, who has rich experience in the architectural themes. The obverse of the medal is dedicated to the overall view of a spiral-shaped reinforced concrete structure with a spiral staircase. The reverse then presents a detail of the complicated structure of the look-out tower.
In the offer of the Czech Mint, you can also find a wooden collector's etui, which will hold all twelve medals from the cycle.
