Guardians of czech mountains
Rampušák - the ruler of the Orlické Mountains - is the third good spirit to appear on the Czech Mint's gold medal from the Guardians of Czech mountains series.
The Orlické Mountains have always been ruled by the kind princess Kačenka, with whom two powerful spirits fell in love. At first she was courted by Krakonoš, but Kačenka eventually chose his rival Rampušák. The defeated admirer became angry and stomped the ground until the Orlické Mountains were smaller than the neighbouring Krkonoše Mountains. But Kačenka and Rampušák did not make a big deal out of it and shared the power happily. While the princess is the ruler of the Orlické Mountains in summer, Rampušák takes care of them in winter.
Academic sculptor Majka Wichnerová has given the series an almost fairy-tale atmosphere. The obverse side of the commemorative medal presents a view of the nature of the Orlické Mountains, supplemented with the inscription STRÁŽCI ČESKÝCH HOR – RAMPUŠÁK – ORLICKÉ HORY (GUARDIANS OF CZECH MOUNTAINS - RAMPUŠÁK - ORLICKÉ MOUNTAINS.) The reverse side is dominated by Rampušák in the form of a giant skier with snow clouds in his wake. The inscription HORSKÁ SLUŽBA (MOUNTAIN SERVICE) hidden in a snowdrift under the trees reminds us that Rampušák is its patron.
The collector's series will feature a total of six mountain spirits from across the country.
