Guardians of czech mountains
The last good spirit to receive the Czech Mint's gold medal from the Guardians of czech mountains series is a ruler of the Ore Mountains named Marzebilla.
Marzebilla, the daughter of a castle lord, lived in the Ore Mountains. She was beautiful and kind-hearted - people liked her, so she had no shortage of suitors. She fell in love with the Knight of the Rising Sun, whom she wanted to marry, but the robber knight of Husberg was against this. On their wedding day, the two suitors drew their swords and a fight broke out between them, in which the Knight of the Rising won. Believing his rival to be dead, he turned to his bride-to-be, but this was a mistake. The Knight of Husberg stabbed him viciously in the back. The devastated bride cast a terrible curse on her lover's murderer and disappeared into the woods. All she took with her was an iron glove as a souvenir...The curse was soon fulfilled - the robber knight died within a year, his mansion turned to dust, and since then people have been seeing the misty figure in the forests of the Erzgebirge. Sometimes it is a girl, sometimes an old woman, but always wearing an iron glove on her left hand. The fairy Marzebilla, who has also entered legend as Marcebilla, Marebila, Marybilla or Marzipan, treats everyone as he or she treats her. Sometimes she is kind, sometimes spiteful and can be downright hostile. She rewards the good and shows him places where blueberries or mushrooms grow in abundance. For a change, she takes the bad guy to the deepest swamp and deprives him of everything - even his life...
The author of the commemorative medal is traditionally academic sculptor Majka Wichnerová. The obverse side presents a view of the austere landscape of the Ore Mountains, which is a rich reservoir of water. The composition is supplemented with the inscription STRÁŽCI ČESKÝCH HOR – MARZEBILLA – KRUŠNÉ HORY. The reverse side is dominated by a depiction of Marzebilla in the form of an unhappy girl holding her heart. On her hand there is the necessary knight's glove.
The collector's series featured a total of six mountain spirits from across the country.
