Guardians of czech mountains
The gold medal of the Czech Mint from the Guardians of the Czech Mountains series belongs to the fourth good spirit which is the ruler of the Jeseníky Mountains named Praděd.
The Jeseníky Mountains are a rugged mountain range, and life was not kind to the local mountaineers who mined gold, silver and iron from the depths of the earth. They had no one in the world who would stand up for them, so one of them decided that he would not go to eternity after death. Instead, he stayed in the world of the living and became a good spirit who cared for all future generations. The grateful mountaineers called their selfless ancestor Praděd, and the highest peak in the Jeseníky Mountains, which was his seat, was given the same name. Since then, the righteous spirit has generously rewarded good people and mercilessly punished the bad. He protected the precious treasures hidden underground, but also all the forests and the animals that lived there. Those who hurt the dumb faces he cursed into the form of a tortured animal as punishment. It is not for nothing that many animals in the Jeseníky Mountains are said to have human souls...
Academic sculptor Majka Wichnerová gave the series an almost fairy-tale atmosphere. The obverse side of the commemorative medal presents a view of the nature of the Jeseníky Mountains with a transmitter and a tower in the background. The composition is supplemented with an inscription STRÁŽCI ČESKÝCH HOR - PRADĚD - JESENÍKY. The reverse side is dominated by the spirit of Praděd in the form of a huge old man with a long white beard, a miner's blouse, a hammer and a miner´s lamp.
The collector's series presents a total of six mountain spirits from all over the country.
