Product description

Our ancestors used to give a gold coin to their newborns for happiness into the craddle. It was not just any coin, but the famous ducat. The Czech Mint continues with this beautiful custom by minting a ducat to the birth of a child.

Ducat mintages
have a long tradition in the Czech Republic. John of Bohemia was the first in our country to begin minting gold coins (then so-called florins), which was followed by Charles IV, Father of the Country. His Czech ducats have been in circulation for several centuries. In modern times, they were followed by Czechoslovak and St. Wenceslas ducats. Due to their beauty and, above all, value, they have become a proven gift for babies. After the Second World War, ducats were almost forgotten, but the Czech Mint decided to revive this tradition by minting its own gold ducats intended specifically to the birth of a child. The beauty and value of gold remained, and the incalculable personal value in the form of an engraved dedication was added to them.

The design of the ducat for 2021 was processed by the medal maker
Petr Patka, DiS. The obverse side is dedicated to a pair of cute babies, which is supplemented with a small heart and an inscription DUCAT TO THE BIRTH OF A CHILD 2021. Around the perimeter of the reverse side, you will find beads in which the zodiac signs are inscribed. This relief defines the space for text engraving, which can take the form of a personal message, name, date of birth,… - imagination has no limits. The only limit is the range of text: 3 lines of 10 characters, including spaces.

The issue is stored in an elegant
gift packaging, which you can adapt to your ideas. It contains space for data inscription about the baby and dedication as well as photographs.
