Product description
Our ancestors gave the gold coin into the cradle of newborn children for happiness. It was not just a coin, but a famous ducat. The Czech Mint continues with this beautiful custom by coining the ducat to the birth of a child.
Ducats have a long tradition in Bohemia. John the Blind began to coin the first gold coins (then called the florins) in the Czech lands, followed by the Father of the Country, Charles IV. His czech ducats have been in circulation for centuries. The Czechoslovak and St. Wenceslas ducats followed in modern times. For their beauty and above all value they have become a gift that should protect the baby from poverty. The ducats in the duvet were almost forgotten after the Second World War, but the Czech Mint decided to revive this tradition by coining its own gold ducats intended for the occasion of the birth of the child. The beauty and value of gold remained, and an uncharacteristic personal value was added in the form of an engraved dedication.
The art form of the obverse side of the ducat for the year 2020 was made by the talented medal maker Lenka Nebeská, DiS. She chose the theme of the sleeping baby that is held in parents hands, complemented by the inscription DUCAT TO THE BIRTH OF CHILD 2020. The reverse side is wrapped in a heart-shaped ribbon that defines the space for text engraving. This may take the form of a personal message, name, birth dates,… depends on imagination. The only limit is the text range: 3 lines of 10 characters including spaces.
The ducat is stored in a stylish gift wrapping, which can be customized. It includes space for inscribing baby information and dedication, as well as for a photo.
