The Bouquet

The second gold ducat from the seven-part cycle inspired by Kytice (the Bouquet) written by Karel Jaromír Erben is dedicated to a poem called the Water Goblin.

The fairy-tale ballad
tells the story of crossing the border between two different worlds - human and water - and their mutual misunderstanding. The story of guilt and punishment is full of maternal love, but above all it is a display of bad character traits, the combination of which leads to tragedy - whether it is disobedience of a girl who becomes a wife of a Water goblin against her will, selfishness of a mother who does not recognize her daughter's relationship with a being from an alien world, or the water goblin´s jealousy that makes him kill his own child.

Medal maker
MgA. Jan Hásek, the author of gold ducats, was carried away by the depressing atmosphere of Erben's collection when creating the relief. The obverse side of the mintage, like the story of the ballad, is divided into a world above and under the surface. The upper part recalls a turning point, when a girl falls into the water while washing clothes. The lower part is dominated by silhouettes of a girl, a water goblin and their child. The reverse side, which is common to the whole series, presents a bouquet of flowers which hides a human skull next to various flowers.

The ducat is set in a special packaging which includes a
complete poem. Moreover, you can store the seven-part collection in a collector's box.
