Product description

A Holy Baptism is for the believer a major event, when he becomes a child of God. Since ancient times, it is customary to accompany this journey with a precious gift - for example, a gold ducat from the Czech Mint with an engraved dedication.

The initiating sacrament of baptism is the ceremony, the essence of which is to remove man from sin through the water, but also symbolizes the death and resurrection with Jesus Christ. Christened - that is reborn - therefore one gets a new name that expresses a new life in the Christian faith. It has become a customary, that in addition to the new name the baptized person also receives a gift - historically, his godfather or godmother gave him a coin or medal made from precious metals of which they can still dedicate to him today.

The obverse side of the gold ducat belongs to the symbolic representation of the act of baptism - a proud mother holds her child wearing ceremonial dress and the spiritual father grants him a baptism.

The author of the visual image of the obverse side is an outstanding engraver Nikolay Baltaev (you may know his son Asamat, a talented medalist, who became famous for a series of realizations for the Czech Mint and the Czech National Bank).

The reverse side of the ducat, apart from the decorative motif, presents a space for your imagination – we will engrave upon it the text of your choice. An example; the name of the baptized, the date of baptism or a personal dedication.

Your dedication, along with the personal details of the baptized, is completed in a gift package in the form of an elegant picture book in a protective sleeve.
