The third gold coin of the Czech Mint from the four-part miniseries, which is issued to the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Operation Anthropoid, commemorates the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich.

Reinhard Heydrich was the third highest-ranking man in the Third Reich after Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler. The prominent Nazi became the architect of the Holocaust and held a number of high positions, to which he added acting Reich Protector of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1941. His task in the occupied country was to resolve the vexed Czech question - in other words, to break and subdue the rebellious nation. First of all, he targeted the Czech elite - hundreds were executed, thousands were thrown into concentration camps. Heydrich's actions horrified the leaders of the Czechoslovak foreign resistance. The task of stopping the tyrant's rampage fell to two paratroopers who were dropped into the Protectorate and attacked Heydrich's limousine on 27 May 1942. Gabčík's machine gun failed, but Kubiš' plastic explosive did its job. The Protector was severely wounded by shrapnel and died of infection on 4 June 1942. The both assassins, along with other paratroopers operating in Prague, hid in the Church of Cyril and Methodius, where they were caught in a betrayal from within their own ranks. They did not give up, they fought their last battle and became immortal heroes...

When designing the reverse side of the coin, the medal maker Petr Patka, DiS., was inspired by a scene from the famous 1964 Czechoslovak film The Assassination. Heydrich's Mercedes-Benz convertible is shaken by an explosion and the Protector clutches his wound in agony. The obverse side, which is common to the entire four-part miniseries, then recalls the fate of the seven Czechoslovak paratroopers who died in the crypt of a Prague church - presenting seven crosses, the year 1942 and the crypt window with clear traces of enemy gunfire. As the licence to issue commemorative coins of the Czech Mint is granted by the Pacific island of Niue, the obverse side still bears its necessary attributes - the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 10 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2022.
