Product description

Brno appears for the second time in the cycle of commemorative coins minted from one half of a gram of pure gold that are set in replicas of historical postcards.

The city of Brno has been rich in postcard creation since the beginning of this phenomenon that appeared
at the end of the 19th century. The extraordinarily beautiful multi-shot postcard, which served as a proposal for the packaging of the coin, is one of the oldest lithographs, which was highly valued even at the time of its creation. The postcard was published by the Munich publishing house of Ottmar Zieher in 1898 and was never sent - probably because of its collectible value. It is interesting, among other things, that the publisher's decorative stamp is placed in the lower left corner and apart from that there is the inscription in Czech, although the German majority dominated the city at the time when "Greetings from Brno" were issued.

The individual windows of the postcard offer various views of the Moravian metropolis, but the coin itself is dedicated to
Petrov - a stone promontory where the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul stands. "I chose to look at the cathedral from the south to underline the Christian significance of the chancel's orientation to the east," the author of the coin MgA. Jan Hasek explains. Since the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with a license of a foreign issuer, which is the island of Niue, the obverse side bears its necessary attributes - a nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD), the name and the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. and the year of the issue 2020.

The issue, which will delight numismatists and deltiologists, is an original and affordable collector's item as well as an attractive regional gift.
