Ferdy the Ant
The last gold coin from the fairy-tale collector's mini-series of the Czech Mint returns to the very beginning of Ferdy the Ant's story. It reminds how the insect hero punished Mr. Snail, who refused to help him in need.
An ant with a dot scarf named Ferdy lived a peaceful life in an anthill, where he constructed various inventions. His sleigh caught the attention of a small entomologist who decided to add Ferdy to his insect collection. Ferdy managed to escape from the kidnapper's box, but he was stopped by a heavy rain. He came to Mr. Snail's house, but despite his desperate appeals, the snail refused to let him go inside. Finally, the drenched ant found a dry spot under the stone and decided to punish the disgusting selfish. He harnessed the unsuspecting snail with the help of a spider. Mr. Snail let himself be driven around and therefore became easily the object of ridicule. Ferdy made a lot of friends during his next adventures, but the grim snail became one of his most stubborn opponents…
On the reverse side of the commemorative coin you will find the snail sledge processed by the medal maker Irena Hradecká, DiS., who worked on the entire mini-series. The obverse side bears the profile and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2019, and the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD), which means the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to issue its own commemorative coins.
You can save the complete five-part mini-series in the collector's album which was part of Ferdy's first coin.
