Ferdy the Ant
The third gold coin from the Czech Mint´s miniseries which has been issued on the occasion of the 85th birthday of Ferdy the Ant, presents the birthday creature together with the Ladybird.
The beetle lady is a beauty and dressy queen. She has blond hair and long legs and she always wears a powder box and fashionable beret. It is no wonder that Ferdy adorned her. Other wise and practical ant tried to do everything to make Ladybird love him too. He offered to build a carriage for her and to tame a grasshopper at their first meeting. His promise was fulfilled, but he still had not been loved. Conceited Ladybird did not even thank him and she accused him of assault when Ferdy slaped her on the back. The poor ant ended up in court ... However, the ladybird is a bit different in every story of Ondřej Sekora and her relationship to Ferdy gradually changes. She is kind and even helps Ferdy several times.
On the reverse side of the commemorative mintage there is Ferdy and Ladybird in a dance hug, presented by the medal maker Irena Hradecká, DiS., who has rich experience with fairy-tale coins. The obverse side bears the name and the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2019 and the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD), which means the details of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a license to coin its own commemorative coins.
Coins with Ferdy and Ladybird can be stored in the collector's album which was part of the first Ferdy coin.
