Product description
The five-year cycle of the Czech National Bank, which is dedicated to the urban conservation areas of the Czech Republic, presents its fourth issue. The gold coin with a nominal value of 5000 CZK minted in top quality proof reminds us of the beauty of Litoměřice.
The fertile Litoměřice region is known as the Garden of Bohemia because of its location on the western edge of the Polabska Lowland. However, Litoměřice also abounds in numerous historical sights, the collection of which was declared a municipal monument reserve in 1978. The original centre of Litoměřice, which includes fortifications, several statues, a number of sacral buildings and residential buildings, has preserved almost intact to this day the layout of the Renaissance-Baroque town, which grew on a Gothic foundation. This foundation, laid by King Ottokar I of Bohemia, was influenced over the centuries by the Hussite era and the post-Belarusian period. For example, the late Gothic house with its Renaissance reconstruction, dominated by a chalice-shaped lookout tower, is reminiscent of the Communion under both kinds and the Litoměřice wine-growing tradition.
The winner of the art competition of the Czech National Bank was the medal maker Lenka Nebeská, DiS. On the reverse side of the coin, there is a collage of Litoměřice architecture consisting of the Old Town Hall, the All Saints Church and other historical buildings, headed by Dům Kalich – The House of Chalice. The decorated gables of Litoměřice houses can also be found on the obverse side of the coin.
You can store the gold coins from the ten-piece cycle of the Czech National Bank in a wooden collector's case which you can also find in the offer of the Czech Mint.
