Product description

The Czech National Bank's gold coins cycle was dedicated to the most interesting Czech castles. Therefore we can not forget Pernstejn, to which belongs the fourth coin with a nominal value of 5000 CZK minted in quality standard.

The Moravian castle, which dates back to the 13th century, is inherently connected with the aristocratic family. It had been the seat of the Lords of Pernstejn, who belonged to our most important dynasties. Only the Rosenbergs could have been measured with the power and wealth of the Pernstejn dynasty. The medieval Gothic stronghold was originally simple, however, reconstructed to a luxurious Renaissance mansion. It preserved its design until today. Nevertheless, it has been further developed and transformed into Baroque, Rococo, Classical and Romantic residence. However, Pernstejn offers not only a rich history and architectural spectacle, but also a number of tales - about ancient yew, whose fate is tied with the fate of the castle, the daring noblewoman who has become a white lady, or the coalman who killed bison, got his head into a coat of arms and became the founder of the Pernstejn dynasty.

Lubos Charvat got the first prize for the design of a commemorative coin in the art contest of the Czech National Bank. He won especially "for the original rendering of the castle Pernstejn and incorporating the legend of the Lords of Pernstejn. It is the incorporation of the legend that distinguishes this proposal from previous designs of castles approved for implementation." The obverse side of the coin bears a relief inspired by the castle decoration - dominated by the Pernstejn coat of arms accompanied by the Czech heraldic animals.

The CNB cycle will gradually release 10 gold coins. All of them arise in the Jablonec Czech Mint and collectors can put them in a luxurious wooden etui.
