Czech Lion 2020

The Czech Mint introduced a series of investment coins entitled the “Czech Lions” in 2017. They were minted with a foreign license and in several different designs. Their offer is gradually growing and the most popular variants include a gold coin weighing one troy ounce.

The “Czech Lion” has been acclaimed not only at home but also abroad. It has ranked alongside
famous world counterparts (Austrian Philharmonic, American eagles, Chinese pandas,…). It was requested by the largest online distributor of precious metals. Satisfied investors from the Czech Republic, the United States, Canada, China, Korea, Germany, or Hungary added it to their portfolios. No wonder - one troy ounce weighing 31.1034768 grams is one of the world's most popular investment weights. Besides the investment potential and low emission costs, the Czech Mint coins also amazed by the elaborated and engaging patriotic relief.

All variants of the Czech Mint's investment coins were
reworked in 2020, but the main idea remained. Besides the Czech Lion in an untraditionally realistic presentation, the reverse side of the gold coin presents two more symbols of Czech statehood - the St Wenceslas crown, which rests on the head of a two-tailed beast, and an eagle on a shield that is a synthesis of St. Wenceslas, Moravian and Silesian birds of prey. The author of the relief is the medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS. The obverse side bears the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own coins - ie the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2020 and the nominal value of 50 DOLLARS (NZD). All this is supplemented with linden branches.

The schedule of issuance of 1oz coins counts 1,000 pieces -
875 of which are stored in a protective capsule (another 25 pieces are part of a comprehensive set of gold investment coins and 100 pieces are placed in a numbered collector´s packaging).
