Czech Lion 2019

The gift variant of the investment coin was placed in a special numbered packaging on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Czechoslovak currency.

"Czech Lions" are purely investment gold coins that have been issued with foreign license by the Czech Mint.  Besides their investment potential, they also impressed by an eye-catching patriotic relief. Therefore a special variant designed primarily for collectors was issued on the occasion of the round jubilee of the Czechoslovak currency.

The coin was designed by the world-famous designer Jaroslav Bejvl. His glass art adorns  the Royal Palace in Saudi Arabia. He is extraordinarily talented medal maker, who has created 400 plaster designs during 30 years. Many of them were issued by the Czech Mint and maybe you remember his circulating twenty-haler. He died at the age of 75 even before he had finished his masterpiece that should have been dominated by a two-tailed beast.

Therefore the young talented medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS. continues processing this masterpiece. Despite his low age (born in 1991) belongs to the stars of the Czech medal scene. He regularly wins in art competitions of the Czech National Bank and his glory has overtaken the borders of our country. He transformed Jaroslav Bejvl's drawing into a relief form and their joint work is one of the best in the Czech Mint for more than a quarter of its existence.

The reverse side of the coin bears the two-tailed Czech lion in an untraditionally realistic concept when guarding the St. Wenceslas crown together with the flaming Saint Wenceslas eagle on the shield.

The obverse side belongs to the attributes of Niue Island, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to coin its own investment coins. These are the name and the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2019 and the nominal value of 50 DOLLARS (NZD). The composition of the obverse side was closed by a branch of lime which is the Czech national tree.

The gold coin is stored in a special numbered packaging and therefore represents an original gift and an addition to the numismatic collection.
