Product description

Elton John is the second legend of British popular music, which appears on commemorative coins from the collector's cycle of The Royal Mint.

He started playing the piano when he was four years old
– he heard a song once, and he could play it by heart. He also composed his own music and he received a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music at the age of eleven. From the age of sixteen he made money playing the piano in bars. He became a professional composer who wrote songs for other artists, but soon decided to focus on his own career. And the rest is history… Sir Elton John has shared his musical talent for more than half a century, and, he sold 300 million records and belongs to the most successful solo artists in the history of popular music.

Extravagant costumes are typical of Elton John in addition to phenomenal singing, precise piano playing and a tumultuous private life. One of them - consisting of a
rainbow straw hat, note-shaped glasses and a bow tie - is therefore to be found on the reverse side of the coin, which was processed by the medal maker Bradley Morgan Johnson. All this is based on the British flag. The obverse side of the coin then belongs to the attributes of the issuer – i.e. the nominal value of 5 POUNDS (GBP), the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. and the text "ELIZABETH II D G REG F D" (Elizabeth II, the Queen by the Grace of God, protector of the faith).

An integral part of the coin is a
special packaging full of photographs and interesting facts (in English).
