Traditional ducat series

In 2024, the traditional Ducat series of the Czech Mint pays tribute to the supernatural protectors of our homeland. A comprehensive set of four gold coins is dedicated to various old legends.

The Czech lands have always been severely tested and it is no wonder. Everyone would like to take a bite out of the beautiful, fertile and rich landscape - whether they come from the north, south, east or west. However, its inhabitants do not stand by and defend their homeland in the heart of Europe with courage. Sometimes they manage to repel the invaders, sometimes they are held captive by the foreign usurpers for years or even centuries. There are not many of them, which is why - especially in moments of despair and despair - they hope for supernatural help. This, according to the old tales, can take many forms. It is possible that when the Bohemian lands are at their worst, the knights of Blanik will come out of the mountains in full armour and scatter the enemy. It is said that they will be led by St. Wenceslas himself. However, it is not only the Czech prince who is waiting for his country to need him the most - the Moravian king Ječmínek will also arrive at the right moment. The fate of the Bohemians, Moravians and Silesians is not indifferent to the heavenly powers - the proof is the miraculous picture of the Virgin Mary with the Baby Jesus, which has entered history as the Palladium of the Czech land.

  • Ducat - Blanic Knights
  • Double-ducat - St. Wenceslas
  • Five-ducat - King Ječmínek
  • Ten-ducat - Palladium of the Bohemian Land

The obverse sides of the individual ducat issues present the Blanic Knights in full armour, St. Wenceslas on horseback, King Ječmínek with his mother in a grain cloth and the Madonna and Child in her arms. The reverse side, which is common to all four coins of the Ducat series, presents heraldic animals of the Czech lands - a lion and two eagles. All this is the work of the medal maker Lenka Nebeská, DiS.

The four gold coins are placed in a luxurious wooden etui supplemented with a special certificate of authenticity, which introduces the individual protectors of our country. The schedule of issuance has only 124 complete sets.
