Product description

While the Czech crown jewels commemorate the history, the British still serve. Therefore, The Royal Mint dedicated them their own commemorative coin from the cycle inspired by the Tower of London.

Lost by King John Lackland in liquid sand, twice pledged, melted, stolen by notorious desperate Thomas Blood, hidden from the Nazis in a box of biscuits. The history of the British crown jewels is varied. Even Queen Elizabeth II. can speak from experience with St. Edward's Crown. The jewel is made of gold and hundreds of precious stones, so it weighs more than two kilograms. “You can not look down to read the speech. You have to lift the speech because the crown would break your neck or fall down. Even the crowns have their disadvantages, but otherwise they are important, ” the queen remembered with a smile the day of her coronation. The British crown jewels are stored in the Tower of London until they are needed. This renowned fortress protects them while allowing millions of visitors to see their majesty…

The reverse side of the coin presents one of many British crowns - the crown of Mary of Modena - and part of the Tower's layout. The obverse side then bears a nominal value of 5 POUNDS (GBP), the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the inscription "ELIZABETH II D G REG F D" (Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith), together with the year of the issue 2019.

The coin is stored in a special packaging that tells its story (in English).
