Products of the Czech Mint
The coins and medals of the Czech Mint are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This document, issued by the Czech Mint, lists the specifications of the product - in particular the metal used, its purity and weight.
The certificate is usually placed in a box with the coin or medal - it can be a separate document or part of an accompanying brochure or other accessory. In other cases, the certificate is printed directly on the product packaging - for example, on various blister packs.
Some products do not have a certificate of authenticity. These are bullion coins of the Czech Mint, such as the Czech Lion. There are several reasons for the absence of a certificate:
- It is a common practice in the world market for bullion coins.
- Bullion coins do not come with a box, and the certificate would be easily lost or damaged.
- The price of bullion coins is inherently as close as possible to the price of the precious metal on the stock exchange, and any extra costs reduce the potential for appreciation - including the cost of creating the certificate.
- The independent guarantor of the authenticity of a bullion coin is its issuer - the authority that issues the coin. In the case of the Czech Mint's bullion coins, this is the island state of Niue, which is part of the Commonwealth. This guarantee is sealed by the depiction of the coat of arms or the portrait of a sovereign.
- The identification of the metal used, purity and weight is embossed directly on the bullion coin.
Coins of the Czech National Bank
The commemorative coins minted by the Czech Mint for the Czech National Bank include a special certificate issued by this central bank of the Czech Republic.
Products of foreign mints
In the offer of the Czech Mint, you can also find products of other mints from all over the world. The situation is similar in their case. Foreign commemorative coins usually include a certificate issued by the mint in question. Foreign bullion coins do not have a certificate, but the identification of the metal used, its purity and weight is part of their relief.
Bullion bars
In the case of bullion bars produced by the world's refineries, the certificate takes the form of a plastic packaging into which the bar is sealed. Larger weight bars are generally supplied without this packaging and therefore without the certificate. The identification of the metal used, the purity and the weight is indicated directly on the surface of all bars, regardless of weight.
