Product description
This commemorative coin from The Royal Mint celebrates the 150th anniversary of the FA Cup, the oldest club football competition in the world.
The FA Cup has brought unforgettable moments and thrilling sporting drama to football fans around the world since the turn of 1871 and 1872. The unique knockout scheme of this competition, which today has seven hundred teams, allows amateur teams from the lower levels of English football to compete against the best clubs from the prestigious Premier League. Thanks to this fact, there is no lack of excitement, anticipation and surprises in English Cup matches - for spectators and the players themselves. Winning the FA Cup means a valuable trophy and due respect, as well as entry to the Europa League.
The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of artists Matt Dent and Christian Davies, presents the FA Cup Winners' Cup with ribbons bearing the 1871/72 -2021/22 anniversary dates. The obverse side is dedicated to the attributes of the issuer of the coin - i.e. the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the text ELIZABETH II D G REG F D (Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith), the year of issue 2022 and the nominal value of 2 POUNDS (GBP).
The commemorative coin made of base metals is stored in a special packaging that presents the history of the English Cup in words and pictures (in English).
