Product description

In 2022, already 35 years have passed since the popular Erasmus programme was launched. The Slovak commemorative coin commemorates this anniversary.

Many young people dream of studying abroad and the European Union has decided to make this dream come true. Thanks to the Erasmus programme, which has brought together European universities and supported student exchanges since 1987, university students can travel abroad and gain valuable life experience - improving their prospects in the global job market, deepening their knowledge of a foreign language, gaining confidence, gaining independence, travelling, having fun, meeting new people and experiencing other cultures. The modern agenda places a strong emphasis on social inclusion issues, focuses on green and digital transformation and promotes young people's participation in the democratic process.

The obverse side of the coin, which is the work of French engraver Joaquin Jimenez, is dominated by a half-statue of Erasmus of Rotterdam inspired by a historical painting. The rays in the background symbolise the European exchange of ideas. The reverse side then shows all the elements of a valid €2 coin.

The base metal commemorative coin was minted by the Slovak Mint Mincovňa Kremnica and issued by the National Bank of Slovakia.
