This silver coin pays tribute to the adored Marvel comics superhero known as Thor.

The ancient Viking sagas tell of a place called Asgard, home to the gods. Odin is the ruler of the Norse pantheon, however, his son Thor - the god of thunder - is more popular. While Odin is a noble and sophisticated politician, Thor is a simple and straightforward man who is much closer and more sympathetic to ordinary people. This thunderer is renowned as an invincible warrior. He has superhuman strength and courage in battle, as well as the unstoppable hammer Mjolnir, which he can hurl with unerring precision at his enemies… People had thought it was just a rumour for hundreds of years, but then Thor appeared on Earth. He was sent by his father to learn humanity, humility and responsibility. Eventually, Thor truly matured among mortals. He found not only himself, but also a new home, love and friends - the superheroes of the Avengers. With them by his side, he protects Earth from all threats - mad criminals, alien invaders and evil gods…

The reverse side of the coin presents the mighty Thor holding his trusty hammer in his right hand. His iconic cloak is colored in red. The obverse side is then dedicated to the necessary elements of the issuer, which is the island of Niue - i.e. the national emblem, the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2023. The coin, which is issued with the official license of Marvel, is minted by the New Zealand Mint.
