The seventh episode of Star Wars, subtitled The Force Awakens, kicked off a new chapter in the adored film saga. Its characters, including Poe Dameron, appear on special coins in the form of banknotes made of silver.

The new republic that was established after the fall of the Empire may be peaceful, but that doesn't mean it's defenseless. Its most formidable means of self-defense are the single-seat X-Wing fighters, famous as Death Star destroyers in the Galactic Civil War. But even the most sophisticated spaceship is nothing without a first-rate pilot like fighter ace Poe Dameron. Though his confidence may border on arrogance, you'd be hard pressed to find a better shipmate in battle...

On the reverse side of the "banknote", which was created by the New Zealand Mint, Poe Dameron is depicted twice - the first portrait (with a detail of his face) is coloured and the second (in the company of the droid BB-8) is in the form of an engraving. The insignia of the Resistance of the New Republic also appears in relief. The obverse side then bears the necessary attributes of the issuer, which is the island of Niue - i.e. the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of ONE DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2019.
