The Czech Mint, in cooperation with the Czech National Bank, began issuing a 14-part cycle of
sets of circulation coins with motifs of the regions of the Czech Republic in 2009.  The popular series says goodbye by issuance of the capital city of Prague in 2022.

Prague
, which is surrounded on all sides by the Central Bohemian Region, is both the capital and one of the regions of the Czech Republic. It is a modern metropolis of world importance, but also a unique document of the development of Czech society across one millennium. The historic heart of Prague, consisting of Hradčany, Malá Strana, The Old Town, The New Town, Josefov and Vyšehrad, is home to some of the most famous Czech monuments. Since the founding of the city on the Vltava River in the early Middle Ages, it has been the centre of power, both secular and religious, symbolized above all by Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral.

Iconic Prague monuments are commemorated by a
commemorative token which is an integral part of the set and which is from the workshop of medal maker Veronika Prokopová. "I used the Charles Bridge which connects the historical centre of Prague on the two banks of the Vltava River as the main motif of the token. On the obverse side there is a view of the Old Town. The reverse side presents the opposite bank with the Lesser Town and Hradčany. The inscriptions HLAVNÍ MĚSTO PRAHA 2022 (translated as CAPITAL CITY OF PRAGUE 2022) and PRAGA CAPUT REI PUBLICAE (Prague, the Head of the Republic) evoke the crowds of people who walk along the Charles Bridge every day," says the student of the Jablonec Medal School. Of course, the set of circulation coins cannot miss currency - namely, six metal coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 CZK, which were minted in 2022 and have never entered circulation.

All this is set in a thematic packaging in the form of a
Czech-English booklet that recalls the interesting sights of the capital city in words and pictures. Remember that you can store the complete collection of Czech regions in a practical collector's box.
