Product description

Slovak silver euro coin was minted in quality proof to the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ladislav Nádaši-Jégé.

Ladislav Nádaši-Jégé was one of the most important authors of Slovak interwar literature and Slovak naturalism. In his work he concentrated on the biological concept of man extended by a moral or even moralistic point of view. He firstly wrote stories and novellas, later he began to write novels. He also wrote plays and educational and journalistic articles. His work included satirical and humorous prose, but he gravitated most towards historicism. He enjoyed observing the behaviour of people in specific historical conditions and analysing how these conditions affected and shaped them. His world view was pessimistic and ironic - he was convinced that evil triumphed over good, but he also believed in technological progress. He himself actively advocated the modernization of life through his journalistic writings...

The reverse side of the coin bears a faithful portrait of the writer, supplemented with his name and the years of his life: LADISLAV NÁDAŠI-JÉGÉ, 1866-1940. The obverse side presents a book with the titles of his most famous works (The Benefits of Social Life, The Legend of Wieniawski, Adam Shangala, The Kurouts, Magister Knight Donč, Horymír, Svätopluk, Itália, Journey through Life) and the historical figure of a sitting warrior. The composition of the obverse side is completed by the inscription SLOVENSKO (SLOVAKIA), the state emblem, the nominal value of 10 EURO and the year of issue 2016. All this is the work of the medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS.

The coin was minted by the Slovak Mint Mincovňa Kremnica and issued by the National Bank of Slovakia.
